Press release

Following a successful pilot, MCR Health is expanding Care to Translate across its organization to support multilingual patient communication at the point of care.

Care to Translate is proud to announce that MCR Health, one of Florida’s leading nonprofit healthcare systems, has moved forward with an organization-wide implementation of the medical translation app following a successful pilot.

The rollout gives staff across MCR Health access to Care to Translate as an additional tool for communicating with patients across language barriers, complementing existing interpreter services and helping staff handle everyday multilingual communication directly at the point of care.

From evaluation to organization-wide implementation

Before implementation, Care to Translate completed MCR Health’s security review, and the organizations entered into a Business Associate Agreement.

The pilot began in June 2026. As part of the rollout, Care to Translate was made available across MCR Health’s corporate mobile devices, enabling staff to access the medical translation application directly within their existing workflows.

An important requirement from MCR Health’s clinical team was the ability to support more natural conversations without repeatedly pressing a button to translate. Care to Translate’s hands-free conversation functionality was therefore an important part of the evaluation.

Following the pilot, MCR Health chose to continue with an organization-wide Enterprise license, giving the organization access to Care to Translate across its operations.

“Moving from a pilot to an organization-wide implementation with MCR Health is an important milestone for us." says Maja Magnusson, CEO and Co-founder, Care to Translate.

"What makes this collaboration particularly meaningful is that the decision was driven by a very practical clinical need: making communication easier in the everyday moments where language can otherwise slow down or complicate care. We are incredibly proud to support MCR Health as they make Care to Translate available across their organization.”

Supporting multilingual communication at scale

Care to Translate combines real-time AI-powered translation with a library of medically verified translations developed specifically for healthcare. The platform is available across mobile devices and web and supports communication in more than 130 languages.

The aim is not to replace professional interpreters where they are required, but to give healthcare professionals an additional tool for the many interactions where immediate communication is needed.

With Care to Translate now available organization-wide, MCR Health can provide staff with one standardized solution for multilingual communication while continuing to evaluate its impact on workflows, patient communication and the use of traditional interpreter services.

“At MCR Health, we serve a diverse patient population, and effective communication is an essential part of providing high-quality care." says Robert Hierak, Chief Operating Officer, MCR Health

"Following our pilot," Hierak continues, "we saw the value of giving our teams an additional tool to support communication with patients across language barriers. Expanding Care to Translate across the organization gives our staff greater flexibility to communicate quickly and effectively as part of their everyday workflows."

Looking ahead

The implementation at MCR Health represents another important step in Care to Translate’s continued growth in the United States and demonstrates how digital medical translation can be implemented across larger healthcare organizations.

Care to Translate and MCR Health will continue to follow adoption and usage as the solution becomes part of everyday clinical workflows.

About MCR Health

MCR Health provides comprehensive primary and specialty healthcare across Florida’s Gulf Coast. Today, the organization operates 24 healthcare centers, three mobile units and 13 pharmacies across Manatee, Sarasota and DeSoto counties and serves more than 106,000 patients annually.

Serving a highly multilingual patient population means communication across language barriers is an important part of everyday care. During the evaluation of Care to Translate, use cases included communication during front-desk interactions and nursing intake, as well as other situations where staff need to communicate quickly and directly with patients who speak another language.
